Imperial Chef, Jalan Hayam Wuruk

Imperial Chef, located in Jalan Hayam Wuruk, has been famous for their specialties, the Roast Suckling Pig. And so, with huge curiosity, eagerness, and off course hungriness! My family and I visit this restaurant ^^
Just like all good Chinese food resto, Imperial Chef was really packed with customer especially because it was Sunday when I visit this resto. So we all queued for maybe 30minutes before we got our table.

So straight to the food!

We ordered some dimsum for our first course and the first dimsum is 'Steam Golden Sand Pao' or basically pao filled with sweet egg yolk in runny consistency, so it's kinda felt like a thick sandy half boiled egg yolk when you're eating it, that's what a golden sand pao supposed to be. But unfortunately, Imperial Chef was in total failure of meeting my expectancy about their golden sand pao. The egg yolk was not runny at all, they extremely overcook it that the yolk has become a hard-boiled egg yolk.

Steam Chicken Claw. Taste okay.

Lo May Kai. Glutinous rice filled with chicken, salty egg yolk, and mushroom; wrapped in lotus leaf and then steamed. Not the best lo mai kai I've ever tried but quite decent.

And now, charsiew! Actually there can't be anything wrong about charsiew! And so are these. Their charsiew completely meet my expectation. A bit fatty, tender, and off course sweet!

And now, their specialties a.k.a The Roast Suckling Pig.
Let me tell you something, I tried not to exaggerate or being hyperbolic but I can't! This stuff was completely a kick-ass! Oh shoot, there can't be roast suckling pig any better than Imperial Chef's. Truly, the skin was so crispy, roast in perfection, with a layer off fat separated the skin from the meat. You indulge the skin first and then eat the meat with hoisin sauce. Oh gosh, believe me, the skin will bring you to the 7th heaven!
It was a really historical moment for me to have taste something as good as that on earth! (I'm drooling right now, just by looking back at the picture) 20 thumbs up for the skin!!

After finishing the whole roast suckling pig, I don't really have an interest in this steamed chicken (I tried it though). Hmm, this is good. So tender, smooth, and tasty! Perfect steamed chicken. The sauce was quite stunning, perfect companion to the tender chicken.

The siew-yuk!!
Well, I think most of us know what it's taste like just by looking at the picture. Crispy skin, layer of fat, tender meat = gorgeous. The only problem is that they oversalt it a bit (maybe they intend to make a really crispy crackling and it really did it, but it was way too salty).

So for overall, Imperial Chef is really a-must-visit resto! Their pricing is the same with Duck King, it's not cheap, but worth every pence of it! haha. For those who would visit this resto, I encourage you not to order nothing else beside the suckling pig and the other pork dishes, because they were too good.
And fyi, there's another branch of this resto in Emporium Mall Pluit but they're nothing compare to the one in Jalan Hayam Wuruk. Never try the one in emporium.

Sushi Sei, Plaza Senayan, Jakarta

Sushi Sei has been acknowledged as one among restaurants that serve premium quality sushi. So, finally I got my chance to dine there with my family.
Sushi Sei is located in Plaza Senayan, Jakarta just right in the opposite of X2 Club. The interior is just right, not authentic yet elegant with their big semi-boat-like design.

Mom and dad =)

My dad's order, fresh orange juice.

My premium sushi platter!
I ordered their favourite sushi platter contains of several tuna and cucumber roll, tamago, sweet shrimp sushi, uni sushi, ikura sushi, ika sushi, salmon belly sushi, hamachi sushi, and 2 pcs of TORO!! Yeah.
I took the first bite on the salmon belly and in the same second, I was admitting in my heart that this is truly one of the best salmon belly I've ever eaten. Truly I have no idea of why did that salmon belly taste so good! Beside their thick slice, the freshness of the fish contribute most of the taste I think. It was just so so tasty.
The rolls, thick-tamago, and the ika were decent.
Sweet shrimp was really good. I do love sweet shrimp so much and I think only premium quality sushi resto could serve sweet shrimp at its maximum potential. And here, they serve this shrimp in its maximum potential, the texture was just chewy and kinda crispy on the outerside, and the taste was magnificent.
Now for the best part, the TORO!! I don't know if you would believe this or not, but the toro is the tastiest, freshest, thickest, and the most perfect toro I've ever eaten in my life! This toro totally flown me to the sky! The texture was just melting in your mouth and the taste was really indescribable. If I could trade all the other sushi (salmon belly etc) with another slice of toro off course I would. Truly, this is so so so divine. You know? I remember the toro's taste until now, I haven't find any toro as good as this until now T_T

Salmon Teriyaki. Grilled into perfection and good thick cut.

My dad's set menu contains of some sashimi slices (tuna and squid), agedashi tofu, egg custard (which I forgot the Japanese name), sushi and handroll, ebi tempura, beef teriyaki, and a bit yaki udon. This is a really huge portion which my mom and that finished together..haha..
The sashimi and sushi is off course nice, good and fresh slices of raw fishes. The tempura and teriyaki was decent. But I want to emphasize in the egg custard. The egg custard is so good, one of the best egg custard I've ever have. They put octopus and ikura on the bottom of the bowl and those turned this ordinary egg custard into something special rather than just an eggy custard.

In overall, it was a really pleasant dinner we have at Sushi Sei. The service was good and the food was outstanding. The only concern is their price! They put some crazy price tag for the food. Like my sushi platter was priced Rp 400.000 or more if I'm not mistaken, my dad's set menu was priced Rp 250.000. So I would gladly go back to Sushi Sei (despite their pricing) especially for their toro.

My rating : 9.5 out of 10 (for the food) and 5 out of 10 for the price

So overall rating : 7,5 out of 10 (sorry for the price)

Kwong Shop Seafood, Karon Beach, Phuket

This was my first dinner at Karon Beach, luckily it was a really good dinner at the Kwong Shop Seafood.

Our first dish, grilled squid. I have to tell you guys, this squid is THE BIGGEST squid i've ever seen in my live. It was MASSIVE about 30cm long and 10cm thick..haha..
This whole portion is only 1 squid. It was so good..chewy (a bit too chewy though) with almost no seasoning and that was quite the best way to serve this really good quality squid.

Our second dish. The fish cake which I think was not really good..T_T
They put too much herbs and the coriander flavour was really dominating the whole fish cake.

Seafood fried rice. Well, a fried rice is most probably always nice..haha

This fish was the champion of that night. It was a red grouper and it was the best red grouper i've ever eaten in my live! Even my dad was silence for a moment after the first bite of that heavenly flesh. This was again so big in size but it's not about the size! It's about it's just-catched freshness.. They serve it in a garlic lemon sauce which was so fresh and a really well complement to this gorgeous fish.
I tell you guys, fish couldn't be any better than this..

Mom and Dad in front of the champion..

For the dessert, we ordered a batter fried banana with honey sauce. It was really sweet, not in term in flavour. But it was a really well combining of crispy fried banana with honey.

Red Mango, Phuket Central

Heyya frozen yoghurt lovers!
I think you've heard about Red Mango, a frozen yoghurt store originated in South Korea and has been franchised in many Asian countries..
In Indonesia, Sour Sally is the market leaders for frozen yoghurts and for your info, Red Mango is one of the frozen yoghurt seller that inspired Sour Sally =)
Sooo..straight to the yoghurt!
For everyone who has tried Sour Sally, Red Mango's yoghurt is creamier but less sour than Sour Sally. It was more like Heavenly Blush in taste.
For the toppings, they got almost the same topping with sour sally.
Peach my favourite..^ ^

As a matter of fact, I love aaallll kinds of frozen yoghurts. I can't say which one is nicer to another coz they got their particular specialties compare to another and it depends on everybody's palette to say which one is better.
Sooo..I'll give high rating for Red Mango =)
