Food Republic, Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur

Food Republic is a food court located in Pavilion Mall, Kuala Lumpur near Bukit Bintang Area.
My family and I just had our lunch in Alor, so we were just having some sweet little treats.. ^ ^

Mango Ice Kachang and maybe mix fruit ice if i'm not mistaken.
The mango Ice Kachang was really good, better than the Ice Kachang itself.
The mango juice/syrup was really refreshing and dominated most of the flavor.
The mix fruit ice was okay. I could only taste the pineapple that time..T.T

Kaya Toast at Toast Box.
I had the better one at Pavilion's Upper Floor which I forget the name.
But this one is not bad, the kaya was tasty and flavourful, it would be nicer if they put a little bit more kaya there..^ ^
Thick butter really made it even richer.

Lunch at Genting Highland

So, at last I came to Genting two days after the Sunway trip.
And..we were unlucky again.
The theme park was inactive because a bit rain and too thick fog.
Soo..
We had to wait for our way back bus for 4 hours by doing nothing.
Great.
We had lunch first.

My first order was Lam Mee.. 12 RM if I'm not mistaken.
Thick noodle in thick brown starchy gravy which is so delicious.
So rich and flavourful..
Some seafood, egg, and fried garlic on top really made it to perfection.
Honestly..this is so good..
It taste similar to Lo Mie in Indonesia or Medanese' Emie with the shrimp taste's tardness.
Truly, even just by looking at it's picture really makes me drooling.

Roti Kaya. 4.50 RM
It's expensive.. Well,coz it's in Genting..haha..
But this is the best Roti Kaya I've ever tried in KL.
It has lighter colour than the usual brown Kaya but it has a beautiful caramel taste in it.
Truly, you'll just can't resist the caramelly flavour in that Kaya.
This is truly outrageous.

My mom's order.. 14 RM maybe.
Charsiew with rice.
This is unacceptable..T.T
The meat is just so hard like you've been reheat it for many times..
The sauce taste good but the meat is unacceptable.

Curry House, Sunway Lagoon

My family and I went to Sunway Lagoon during our KL trip. It was an accident actually coz we planned to go to Genting but unfortunately we didn't got the ticket for that day.
So, with our wrong costume, we went directly to Sunway Lagoon by train with coat and those other "cold day" clothes.
Well, we know that Sunway Lagoon is a water park but this is just for killing our time..
Better than just go to Sungei Wang again..and again..
So,luckily I saw a banner "Curry House"..
At last, God gave me a consolation after this ridiculous visit..
So, there we had our lunch..

My first order is Dose/Dosa..
I didn't really recognize it's name since it's my first time eating this particular kind of Indian food.
It's maybe an Indian thin pancake that should be eaten with some sauces.
That time, I got 2 chutneys ( a thick sauce containing fruits, vinegar, sugar, and spices >> based on Merriam-Webster) the white and light-brown one, and 2 curry sauce veggie and chicken curry sauce.
The Dose itself is good.
It's actually almost tasteless..but it's a well companion with the sauces.
This is the first time I eat chutney and I like it!
It taste a bit sour, full of spices which I dunno what they were, a hint of fruity flavour, bit raisin flavour. I thought it was yoghurt when I tasted it for the first time. It's so hard to describe!
But it's good. Quite strong it you take it too much.
I forgot what's the difference between the white and brown chutney but I think the white one is slight more sour and milder.
The veggie curry sauce was good. My favourite among these four.
The chicken curry was a no no..
It has a really strong flavour an bit unpleasant smell for my liking..
Maybe I haven't adapt yet to Indian food..haha..

My Drink Ice Teh Tarik and My Sister's Ice Milo..Both 1.60 RM

Here is everyone's favourite!
The mutton curry! yumm.. 6 RM
Indian mutton curry is always nice..
That's all I have to say. We order it twice btw.

Nasi briyani. 12 RM
It's good.
I dunno how to describe it's taste..
It has a bit curry taste. Full of spices and so rich in flavour.
Served with piece of chicken and one boiled egg.
With their non-thick curry like sauce which is nice..

For overall, I love this Indian feast!
It's quite a new culinary experience for me.
My only concern is their quite expensive pricing.

Sai Woo, Alor, Kuala Lumpur

Our first order, fried oyster. 8RM
hmm..
Cu Cha had a better one I think.
It's just to bland and only few oysters..T.T

Curry Mee. 6RM
It's okay. But the gravy tasted a bit too bland, didn't have curry mee's usual richness.

Char Kwe Tiao. 5RM
Big portion, but nothing special.
Big prawns but not really kicking.

Ah Yee Bakute, Alor, Kuala Lumpur

Ah yee bakute!!
First, I have to said that this is the best bakute I've ever taste in my life..in KL I mean..haha..
It's located in Jalan Alor at the right side..

Their champion, the bakute!! 9RM for single portion 20 RM for family portion.
Look at those layer of fat of the pork belly, the pork intestine and other innards..yumm..
sinful but irresistable..
I dunno how to describe the soup's taste..
but it has just kind of richness that I didn't find in any bakute I've tried in KL.
It's just like a really thick consistency richness but it's actually just a normal clear bakute soup!
It's just perfect.
The balance of the herbal flavour, the pork broth, hint of sweetness..
all kick'n your palette..
so good.

My recommendation, order the family portion and eat together with your friend.
It's a really big portion and all individuals could share this sinful bakute together..haha..

Brased tofu. 2.50 RM if I'm not mistaken..
I dunno why my dad did order this thing..-.-
but it's not bad.
quite good I think.haha..
maybe because the soup contained a little bit pork broth..XD

Stir fried kangkung with belacan.. 6 RM if I'm not mistaken.
Good. With it's nice "frying" smell..
But bit too salty.
Perfect to be eat with rice.

Plum juice.. 3.50 RM
salty, sweet, sour, all are blended together in this juice.
It's good mate!
Really refreshing.

So for overall, Ah Yee certainly is the best place to eat bakute..
They got their specialities handled really well.

Cu Cha Restaurant, Alor Street, Kuala Lumpur

Cu Cha restaurant is located in Alor Street, Kuala Lumpur and it is certainly the most crowded resto in Alor Street, that's the main reason we come here.
It has many small stall inside the resto like bakute, satay, dessert corner, BBQ corner, etc. So it's so much fun there.

My mom tried hainanese rice with BBQ Pork and Charsiew
The Hainanese rice is a bit to bland for me and the rice itself was a bit overcook.

The charsiew is so good. From it's texture we'll know that this charsiew is so fresh that it's got a really tender texture like it's just been roasted before you order..haha..
The sweet red sauce was nice, just a nice compliment to the tender meat.
The roast pork is definetely the champion of this resto..
This is truly the best roast pork i've ever tried in my live. You'll always crave for it's perfectly crisp skin and the really tender meat inside. It's perfect.
The meat itself was quite dominate the inside coz it's only a thin layer of fat with really thick layer of meat. Good for diet.
This roast pork is so good 'til we order the next portion only roast pork without charsiew! haha..
(picture below)

Ice Kachang.
This was the first time I tried Ice Kachang. It tasted like chendol for me..
The palm sugar quite dominated the taste but for overall, it's not bad although I prefer Indonesian Ice Campur..haha..

Char Kwe Tiao.
Good, mostly because of it's frying smell..needs more cockle..haha..
5 RM if I'm not mistaken.

Bakute. 12 RM.
The first time I tried this dish..
hmm..
I like it's soup so much which I think has a really rich taste and a lot of filling to.
But this is not the best bakute I tried in KL..
I'll post Ah Yee bakute next time..hehe..

Fried oyster. 10 RM.
I actually expect more than this..
I thought fried oyster means a lot of oyster with omelette but this one seems like omelette with oysters garnishing.
Taste okay.

BBQ Wing. 2,4 RM each.
Quite expensive but I envy this so much since it's everywhere along the Alor Street and people keep on buying it. So I ordered this on my second visit to Cu Cha.
It taste like ordinary roast chicken actually only that this wing is truly big size.haha.

Lee Chian Kang.
It's actually Ice Sekoteng in Indonesia..hahaha..
Taste good but I've tried richer one than this.

The Laksa seller in Cu Cha.

For overall, Cu Cha is a good restaurant although one of the most expensive in Alor.
But it's the most crowded there so it must be good.

1+1 Restaurant, Alor Street, Kuala Lumpur

1+1 Restaurant is where I had my first meal when I arrived in KL for my vacation.
It's located in Jalan Alor which is KL's famous food street both for tourists and Malaysian people themselves and it is truly a pleasure for me to come to Alor..haha..nice food's evrywhere!

My first order was a Wantan Mee with soup.. 5.5 RM
They have to version of wantan mee which is the dry one and the soup one.
For those who doesn't know what wantan mee is; basically wantan mee is just noodle (mee), which they usually use quite thin noodle for it, served with wantan or wonton, charsiew, and some veggies. And this is one of the food that you'll find almost everywhere in KL (based on my experience).
This is actually my first time trying wantan mee after look at it many times in my Malaysian friend's blog..haha..
It taste good.
The thin noodle is similar to Tiongsim Noodle in Indonesia. The soup taste good although for me, I think needs a bit more seasoning since it taste a bit bland. The wantan was good with thin skin which I like and the charsiew is always as good usual.
Overall, I like this dish.

My dad tried their dimsum which you can see below.
I forgot what's it's name but it is a prawn dumpling. It's actually Swikiau in Indonesia.
Taste okay.

Hmm.. I also forgot what is this but it's basicly dumpling with some crab filling.
Taste good.

Prawn siumay. This is one of the best siumay I've ever eat.
Filled with a lot of succulent prawn. You'll never want to stop eating it.

Lotus filled pao. The lotus filling is like kaya with it's brownish color but taste good and they put a really lot of lotus filling in it which make this taste good.
But I think the pao itself was quite hard.

Hmm.. This is prawn shrimp roll with tofu skin maybe if I'm not mistaken but taste like prawn cake.
Taste good, but I think the sweet sauce didn't match really well with the shrimp roll.

Charsiew pao. Taste soo gooodd...
It's filled with lott of charsiew which taste so good.
Stunning.
But again, the pao itself is a bit to hard for me..T.T

This is the champion of this resto, the curry laksa! 6 RM.
For those who doesn't know what laksa is, it is basically noodle with some other ingridients like cockle, tofu, and many other things you may want to put it in with the curry like gravy.
I tried this in my second visit during my KL trip and this is certainly the best laksa I've ever had in KL and in my life coz I tried laksa in this KL trip for the first time.
You'll never imagine how rich the soup is. The thickness of the soup with it's richness really bring the whole laksa dream in your palette. The noodle was good and the cockle was cooked right in it's perfect point where you'll find the outside perfectly cooked and the inside is still ooey-gooey. So good.
I wish I have 1 more hand to give this laksa 5 thumbs at once.

Teh Tarik. 1.5 RM
Yumm..

Dry wantan mee. 5.5 RM
This is my sister's order at our second visit.
It's ingridients is basically the same with the soup one but they mix the noodle with some brownish sauce that looks like sweet soya sauce for me, therefore I thought that this taste sweet.
But it actually not.
The brown sauce came from a brown soya sauce wich doesn't taste sweet at all.
For overall, this wantan mee is good.
Tasty.

Hot teh tarik. 1.5 RM
You know what it taste like laah..haha..

For overall, 1+1 resto is one of the tastiest resto I've tried in KL.
Especially for their laksa which absolutely stunning and their wantan mee which is very good.
Good pricing, not expensive.
In rupiah, you'll like spend not more than Rp 25.000 per person.

My Rating : 8,5 out of 10
Well, I would give 10 out of 10 for the laksa itself..hahaha..
